The new Internet journal from Hungary is greeting his readers.

According to the plans of the editorial board, the journal aims at the theoretical and practical presentation of the coexistence and co-operation of traditional writing forms and of the digital culture.

The publication of the journal is made possible by the sponsorship of the Hungarian Cultural Funds and the Soros Foundation and in co-operation with the International Association of Bibliology (A.I.B. Paris).

The first issue is edited under the direction of Professor Béla Köpeczi, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (H.A.S.) and former minister of cultural affairs. The editorial board of this issue is composed of specialists belonging to Lóránd Eötvös University of Sciences of Budapest, the National Széchényi Library and the Bibliological Working Committee of the Department of Literature and Linguistics of the H.A.S., as well as the "Pro Bibliotheca" Foundation of the Library of the Academy.*

According to the readers' interest, the journal would be published four times a year. Later on, the articles of the subsequent issues would be published under the guidance of an international editorial board, in English and French, followed by abstracts in Hungarian.

The first issue of our journal provides an overview of our field of interest and at the same time we request the readers' opinions and comments on our initiative and we call for papers as well (the editorial board of course reserves the right of publication).

We hope that our initiative will meet the readers' interest.

We are again greeting our readers and waiting for their coming forward.

*The electronic edition was made by Mrs. Katalin Bánkeszi.
