Abstract: Lake Balaton is a shallow lake with an average depth of about 3.5 m. The shallow lakes are extremely sensitive to environmental changes in both quantity and quality. The water management processes of the past two decades have provided many warning signals. Above all, as a result of the increasingly extreme weather conditions, unusual and, in any case, extreme conditions of water management have occurred more frequently and to a greater extent. Lake Balaton is a natural lake, but at the same time it is a widely used holiday lake both nationally and internationally. Today, two solutions seem to be appropriate for sustainability. One is to increase bed storage by raising the level of regulation. The other is the quick and safe drainage of the water above the control level in the lake, and the modernization of the drainage system (Sió-sluice, Sió-riverbed)

Keywords: shallow lake, increased sensitivity to environmental changes, water balance, water level control, natural water supply change, regulation level increase, drainage system modernization

Abstract: The Geological Garden, managed by Eötvös Loránd University, is a nature conservation area located in Tata, about 70 km to the west of Budapest, in Hungary. It has been established as an open-air geological museum where a succession of Tethyan Mesozoic sedimentary rocks, characteristic of the Alpine- Carpathian region is excellently exposed in abandoned quarries and cleaned rock surfaces. Several formations widely distributed in the Transdanubian Range of Hungary were studied here in detail and key sections of three of them have been designated here. In addition to geological values, the area houses Copper Age chert pits as well as a fine collection of different rocks of Hungary. Due to its scientific value and educational potential, the Geological Garden is one of the most valued Hungarian geosites.

Abstract: In the last two years a new National Core Curriculum (NCC) and related Framework curricula have been developed in Hungary. This subject-specific educational reform, especially in the field of human subjects (literature, history) has provoked much debate in recent months. In the case of science subjects, there has been less content criticism than expressions because of the repeated reductions concerning the number of the lessons. The subject Science taught in grades 5-6 of the elementary school was not affected by the decrease in of the number of lessons, remaining two hours a week in both grades. In this subject, the changes are more thematic and content-based, with the appearance of new chapters, restructuring of old ones, often with significant content reduction. At the same time, the curriculum provides more time for field lessons and research, through which for developing an ecological approach and an environmentally conscious and patriotic attitude.
