    Az éghajlatváltozásról 12 tételben5-25 [2.10 MB - PDF]EPA-03269-00005-0010

Abstract: Key aspects of climate change are comprehended for teachers of geography. Scientific background of the paper is the last IPCC Report (IPCC AR5 2013). The sections of the paper are: what the data prove; what the climate models attest; what the scenarios foresee; what to do with all of these.

Keywords: observed changes, forcing factors, projections, adaptation, mitigation

Abstract: One of the major challenges of elementary and high school geography education is the mapping of real 3D morphological features and their visualization in 2D environments. Similarly, for students of the X-generation, it is rather difficult to understand how map symbols and tools of conventional maps represent real 3D morphological features. In the current study a novel method was elaborated at the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences of University of Pécs which facilitates the learning and perception of geographical mapping and visualization by employing Artificial Reality methods. The AR system is a coupled sandbox-GIS system connected to a Kinect™ device with which the process of visualization is achieved through gamification and via easily acquirable and playful practices.

    Keywords: Kinect™, gamification, geomorphology, visualization

Abstract: Understanding the dynamic systems of the Earth requires new approach in geography teaching. Also the knowledge regarding the groundwater has to be taught for students by system approach, focusing on its movement and relationship. This is important for the environmentally conscious interpretation of the connected terms and processes. The paper displays the changes of terms and approaches and the scientific background which can help the geography teachers to keep up with the evolution of science in their teaching practice. The presented modelling experiments try to help students in research based teaching process.

Keywords: groundwater, flow system, water cycle, recharge area, discharge area, water table system approach, mineral water, healing water, thermal water, inland water, artesian well; research learning strategy, modelling, environment-conscious approach

Abstract: In recent years, the number of teaching methods that are being published in education methodology are growing, as they change some of the practices that are sometimes classified as obsolete or outdated. In addition, it is important that education should be in line with the new challenges of the 21st century and need to help preparing students for lifelong learning. Of course, as a teacher, one still needs to keep in mind transferring professional knowledge in the right form and motivating students. The use of geographic information systems can revolutionize and greatly expand students’ geographic experience. Visual images from all over the world contribute to learning; satellite technologies can bring landscapes to life. Interactive maps can be used for mapping and interpreting different geographical patterns, as well as solving the problems that have arisen. Based on these, numerous pedagogical networks have been set up and they provide curricula and teaching materials which can be directly used in public education.

Keywords: geoinformatics, public education, lesson plan, geography teaching
